Featured in The Traveller's Guide to Planet Earth and in the Lonely Planet guide books, this is the most popular multi-day hike in Jasper National Park! Over half of the trail is in alpine meadows making for stunning vistas and wonderful photo opportunities.
THREE DAY TOUR
A 44km hike spread out over 3 days, we will leave Jasper in the morning of day one and you will be transported to the trail head about an hours drive from the town of Jasper.
We will be traveling up the Maligne Lake Road, this road is one of the best places to see wildlife in Jasper National Park, an added bonus!!
We start the hike at Maligne Lake, and make our way up into the mountains. We will walk over passes, along ridges, and over patches of snow. The second day is the big one with 18kms (11 miles) of distance to cover and the uphill climb of the notch, which is the highest elevation of the trip at 2510meters (8234 feet).
The top of the notch will give you incredible views of six different mountain ranges of the Rockies!!
Four Day Tour
Adding the extra day to our tour we have more time to stop, take pictures, spend a bit more time at camp, and maybe explore some of the other areas from camp.
The main difference with the route is that we split the second day in two, spending a night in the middle of the Trail at Curator Campground. This tour is suitable for a variety of ages and first time hikers, or hikers who may be worried about the long distance of the second day of the three day tour.
There are no campfires allowed on this trail, but your guide will keep you supplied with hot drinks to warm you up as you relax and view the beautiful mountains, rivers, and possibly some wildlife too.
